Description :
Brown algae with a short stalk and a large blade, which is split into 6-30 or more straplike fingers.
Habitat :
Found in mediolittoral and infralittoral zone
Natural history :
This kelp is found mostly on exposed shores sites where it can be the dominant algae. It has a fairly high growth rate compared to other algae, reaching 5.5 % per day. It is highly susceptible to grazing by sea urchins.
