intertidal
  • the coastal zone measuring from the lowest to the highest tide mark.
motile cilia
  • There are two types of cilia: motile cilia, which constantly beat in one direction and result in movement of the cell or of fluids (water, mucus, etc.) around the cell, and non-motile cilia, which typically serve as sensory organelles.
Perennial
  • A perennial plant or simply perennial (Latin per, "through", annus, "year") is a plant or algae that lives for more than two years. The term is often used to differentiate a plant from shorter lived annuals and biennals.

    Perennials, grow and bloom over the spring and summer and then die back every autumn and winter, then return in the spring from their root-stock rather than seeding themselves as an annual does.
Stylode
  • A single digitiform process or stylode .
